Supplier Spotlight - Inkydoodle

I am so excited to introduce Inkydoodle, a fabulous company designing wedding and special event stationery with an edge, for couples looking for something a little bit different.

Inkydoodle steer clear of the classic cream pearlescent card with ribbons, stick on pearls and diamante, while that’s exactly what many brides are looking for it’s just not what inkydoodle is about. They aim to be different, targeting brides who want something against the norm with clean crisp colourful print.

Inkydoodle offer 2 types of service: ‘from the collection’ and ‘bespoke’.

Their collection is growing all the time, so quickly at the moment that they can’t update the website fast enough, their facebook page currently holds more designs than the website! Many of the ranges in the collection are inspired by real weddings and they can all be tailored specifically to yours: they can recreate them in any colour with wording to suit you.

The bespoke service is very exciting, they work with the bride and groom or party/event organiser (don’t forget that they do special event stationery too) to discuss their event theme, colour scheme, the couples likes & dislikes, their dress sense and any hobbies they have. Once they have all this information they go away and create two ideas, working with the couple to tweak their favourite design until they reach the finished product - completely bespoke and 100% unique!

Inkydoodle's service is really personal; they prefer to discuss the couple’s requirements over the phone or via e-mail so they can get their vision just right. A wedding is one of the most important days of a person’s life and the invitation is the first impression closest friends and family receive, it sets the scene for the main event.

Supplier Spotlight - One Life Ceremonies

I am delighted to introduce a fabulous company offering a truly personal and unique wedding service.  One Life Ceremonies is a family business run by Laurra and her mum, Maria. They write and conduct personal wedding, gay commitment and wedding vow renewal ceremonies which are written individually for you as a couple.  Laurra explains the services they offer.......

The Wedding of your Dreams
It’s the biggest day of your life and everything is just as you want it: you have the perfect dress, beautiful flowers and an amazing cake - now your wedding ceremony can be exactly as you want it too! One Life Ceremonies will create a wedding ceremony that is completely personal and reflects you as a couple, we essentially start with a blank canvas and work with you to find out exactly what you want as well as offering ideas and inspiration along the way. You have total freedom and can include the words, vows, readings and music that are important to you and the ceremony can be as traditional or unconventional, simple or elaborate as you like.

Endless Possibilities
If you’ve ever dreamed of holding your wedding outside, on a beach, in your garden, or in an unusual, or even just an unlicensed wedding venue then a One Life Wedding Ceremony is perfect for you. Because the ceremony is held separately to signing the register (which is usually done a day or two before at the Register Office) this means that you are free to choose any location to hold your wedding- indoors or out and you can hold it at any time of the day (or night!) and on any day of the week.

A Memorable Experience
Being at a ceremony which has been written for and about you as a couple makes it much more memorable experience for your guests because they are listening to a ceremony that is unique to you and not just the standard script they’ve heard before at another wedding........................................................

Our Services
We offer two different wedding packages which both include a face-to-face or telephone meeting, a professionally written script and your wedding ceremony conducted for you on your wedding day.

We have also just launched a wedding vow writing service which is a great option if you’ve decided to include your own vows in your wedding but need help putting what you want to say into words! This service is perfect for any couple even if you’re having a church service or one led by a Registrar; it’s a great way to make your ceremony that little bit more personal!

Supplier Spotlight ~ Cards By Sophie

I am so excited to welcome and introduce Sophie from Cards By Sophie to talk about all things stationery!  Sophie is hugely talented and passionate about wedding stationery which is clearly evident in her work.

Here, she talks about her collections in her own words......

In 2007, I was getting married abroad and having a reception for friends and family back in the UK. In preparation, I spent hours trawling the internet to find suitable invitations and other items for our wedding. I couldn’t find anything that could be personalised, where you were allowed to change the colours, to include different wording or to choose a particular font. The frilly old fashioned designs just didn't work for me either.

So I decided to create a collection that is stylish, simple, personalised and contemporary yet affordable…. just what you are looking for!
Cards by Sophie offers two ranges. In our first we have unique, handmade and completely personal designs. Each design can be customised to your requirements, for example the colours of ribbons, handmade paper or Swarovski crystals can be changed to match your wedding theme and colours. There are no set rules, the stationery is available in a range of sizes, and you can create your own wording on the inside and outside of each card.

Our second range features four fabulous printed designs. You can add your own wording on the inside and outside of the card and add an additional personal touch of Swarovski crystals to match your wedding theme.

Sophie’s Tips
Your stationery is the first key step to setting the tone and choosing may help you decide on your flowers and other accessories. Think about the sort of clothes you love, your ideal décor, and the place where you are getting married. This will help you decide whether you’re going for something traditional or modern.

What colours do you love? It could be your favourite colour, or something that reminds you of where you met your partner. Many of my brides chose ribbon colours on the stationery to match the bridesmaid’s dresses and send me a swatch of fabric. It is amazing the difference a font makes to your invitation as well, again setting the scene - the stationery is the first thing your guests will see!

The choices you make can be taken right through to on the day items, such as order of service, table plans and place cards. Pick something you love and can be proud to send to friends and family, don't settle for second best.

I always think anything is possible so just ask, I love a challenge!

We are very proud that all of our wedding stationery is unique to us, so you will not find it anywhere else.

We offer a UK-wide service and a fantastic 10% discount on orders over £300.

We have a brand new website http://www.cardsbysophie.com/ where you can now order and buy online, making it much quicker and easier to purchase wedding stationery.

Supplier Spotlight - OxTreeGen - How to Have a Green Wedding

I am delighted to introduce OxTreeGen, a local Oxfordshire business set up in 2010, founded by Nick Thomas & Mark Lay that combines two of my passions – the environment and weddings!

OxTreeGen’s mission is to help communities, companies and individuals reduce and offset their carbon footprint by planting trees in the UK.

There are already many carbon offsetting schemes in existence where the projects they support are on the other side of the world. Nick & Mark founded OxTreeGen because they wanted to do something in the UK and to engage people on a local basis. OxTreeGen plants trees on land near where they live – they have currently have sites in Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Buckinghamshire.

Why should you consider a Green Wedding?

Climate change and the issues we face are becoming more apparent and some people are looking for simple and effective means to reduce their impact on the planet. Just making a few small changes and actually thinking about what we do before we do it can be enough, but we can always go one step further.

Events, such as weddings and engagement parties consume a lot of resources and produce excessive amounts of waste. Many couples are now looking to provide a unique and distinctive experience for themselves and their guests, and mark it in a way that can benefit the planet for generations.

Creating a ‘green’ and ethical wedding not only sets you apart from others, but also benefits the planet, which in turn can also be communicated to guests to further raise awareness, not to mention potentially saving money.

One of the fabulous services they offer is to reduce or completely offset any wedding day festivities, and any travel associated with this such as the Honeymoon. They offer a simple carbon footprint calculator, which when filled in works out the amount of carbon the wedding, reception and travel will use. The bride & groom can then chose the package that suits them best – from planting enough trees to offset the event, with the couple receiving a certificate detailing the number of trees planted; to every member of the wedding party having a tree planted and receiving a certificate as a memory of the day.

This is a fantastic way to have a wedding with a conscience that doesn’t cost the earth.
